DHCP and DNS Logs

The DHCP and DNS Logs view is an archive of all expired leases that have been issued by the rXg integrated DHCP server.

DHCP leases are issued by the rXg integrated DHCP server based on the configuration specified by the network operator. End-users that make DHCP requests are issued IPs from pools that intersect the subnet ranges of configured addresses that are associated with the interfaces from which the end-user is connected to. Once an IP is issued to an edn-user, the DHCP server records that there is a lease on that IP. When the lease expires, the an entry is made into the expired DHCP leases scaffold and the IP address is ready to be leased to an end-user again.

Expired DHCP Leases

The issued field is the timestamp recorded when the DHCP lease was originally issued.

The expired field is the timestamp recorded when the DHCP lease expired and the IP has been reclaimed.

The IP field stores the IP address that was leased to the end-user.

The MAC and Hostname fields are the data items recorded that identify the end-user.

The pool field relates this record to the DHCP pool from which the IP was drawn when the lease was issued.
